Ground Orbit provides first mile through last mile connectivity as one managed service for government and mission teams. Connecting a field site to the cloud and to headquarters is supposed to be the easy part of a mission. It rarely is. We handle the complexity of the network end to end so teams can focus on work that advances business and mission objectives.

01 / How it works
The service is one managed path made of three segments.
Teams no longer have to compare transport offerings or work out how to connect their users and systems; they connect to the service, and we handle the rest. Ground Orbit provides, configures, and supports every element along it. Monitoring, service-desk hours, and reporting are set out in the service agreement.

First mile
Your field site connects over whatever is available on the ground: 5G, LEO satellite (such as Starlink) or a private circuit. Traffic leaves the site inside a post-quantum encrypted VPN. The site is on your network the day the routers are powered on, over any transport, with no carrier decisions to make.

Middle mile
Traffic crosses our managed core: equipment in Equinix points of presence joined across AWS Direct Connect. You get private, resilient transport between sites and private access into AWS, without building or operating a core yourself.

Last mile
Headquarters, a corporate office or a partner site joins over private WAN transport on the same managed routers. The field site appears as part of your own network — no site-to-site tunnels to build or maintain.
02 / Why it matters
Any transport. One service. One operator.
Before any mission work starts, someone has to choose a transport, secure traffic across networks the team does not own, arrange private access into the cloud, extend the network back to headquarters, and then keep all of it running. Each of those is a separate vendor, a separate skill set and a separate failure point.

Any transport, one service
5G, LEO satellite, private WAN, colocation cross-connect and AWS Direct Connect all enter the same managed network. We select the transport per site; the service, the security and the operations are the same regardless of what is underneath. A site can carry more than one transport at once, so a cellular outage or a satellite weather event does not take it offline.

Secure by design
Security is built into the path rather than configured after the circuit is up. Traffic over commercial cellular and satellite carriers is wrapped in a post-quantum cryptography VPN from the first hop. Each customer runs in its own Layer 2 or Layer 3 segments. Cloud workloads are reached over Direct Connect from inside the managed network, never across the public internet.

Two of everything
The reference design pairs every element: two routers at each site, two switches and two routers in every point of presence, two cross-connects into AWS, two private WAN circuits. The design is built so a single device, circuit or carrier failure does not isolate a site, and failover is handled by the service, not by your team.

One accountable operator
The service is designed around one accountable operator: Ground Orbit selects and contracts the transports, supplies and manages the routers, operates the points of presence and the core, and provisions cloud access. Path monitoring and a service desk are part of that design; hours and tiers live in the service agreement. One party is responsible for the whole path.

Built for government and mission teams
The teams that need connectivity most, forward-deployed and remote teams, usually have the least capacity to manage it.
Forward-deployed teams
Stand up a site on 5G or satellite and join the enterprise network. Routers arrive configured; the site joins the overlay and reaches headquarters and AWS over the encrypted first mile and the managed core.
Disaster and emergency response
Keep responders connected when terrestrial infrastructure is down. LEO satellite carries the first mile when cell towers and fiber are out; traffic stays encrypted and lands on the same private path as every other site.
Distributed enterprise and branch offices
Connect branch offices to cloud and headquarters without a WAN team. Each office is a last-mile site on private WAN transport; cloud access, segmentation and operations come with the service.
